An embargo is a delay in online access to a journal (usually 3 - 18 months) imposed by the publisher for any of the following reasons:

  • To preserve the value of the advertising in the paper version of the journal
  • To charge premium prices for the newest content
  • To charge subscription fees for the content before it becomes open access

If Iona College Libraries does not have an embargo-free source for a title, please place a InterLibrary Loan request for the article.
